Securing a strong nuclear future

Nuclear contracting firms spoke to Copeland MP Trudy Harrison about their obligations to the industry, workforce and the community.

Trudy met with Seascale-based Cumbria Nuclear Solutions Ltd (CNSL) which forms part of Sellafield’s Decommissioning Delivery Partnership (DDP).

Copeland MP Trudy Harrison is set to chair a panel at a nuclear conference for the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.

The Commercialisation of the Small Nuclear 2 conference takes place in London on December 2.

“Nuclear is a complete game changer,” Copeland’s MP told a high-powered debate in London this week.

Chairing the Westminster Energy, Environment and Transport Forum, Trudy Harrison delivered key messages regarding the importance of the nuclear industry.

West Cumbria showcased its unique nuclear expertise, skilled workforce and capability at a meeting with multi-national engineering company Rolls-Royce.

Copeland MP Trudy Harrison talked about her vision for the nuclear industry during a two-day conference at Westlakes Science Park.

"Nuclear is the most game-changing, transformative way to tackle climate change," Copeland MP Trudy Harrison has told the House of Commons.

Trudy Harrison has urged the Government to address the benefits of Small Modular Reactors in the UK.

In Oral Parliamentary Questions to the Chancellor of Exchequer, Trudy asked Phillip Hammond what his department is doing to establish the UK as a world leader in new technologies. 

A discussion surrounding the future of Moorside brought together a delegation of key nuclear stakeholders at a reception in Parliament this week.

Cumbria’s MPs have today put forward a ‘strong case’ for Moorside as talks with the Minister for Energy continued.

Trudy has today been given an assurance that Government will meet with ‘all and any’ potential investors in Moorside.
