NHS Parliamentary Awards

Trudy is encouraging constituents to propose their health and care heroes for national recognition.

Trudy is taking part in the annual NHS Parliamentary Awards, in which she will nominate individuals, teams or organisations from Copeland in a range of award categories.

The awards were launched in 2018 to celebrate the 70th birthday of the NHS and to recognise the outstanding contribution of staff, volunteers and others working in the health and care sector.

Trudy is inviting suggestions in the following categories, from which she is able to select one per category to formally nominate:

  • The Excellence in Healthcare Award
  • The Excellence in Mental Health Care Award
  • The Excellence in Urgent and Emergency Care Award
  • The Excellence in Primary Care and Community Care Award
  • The Future NHS Award
  • The Health Equalities Award
  • The Nursing and Midwifery Award
  • The COVID Response Award
  • The NHS Rising Star Award
  • The Lifetime Achievement Award

Further to inviting members of the public to make their nomination suggestions, Trudy is also working with the local NHS networks directly to identify candidates.

Trudy said: “I am delighted to once again support the NHS Parliamentary Awards and, during an unprecedented and extremely challenging time for our NHS, I look forward to hearing more about how individuals and teams have gone above and beyond for our community.

“Nominees don’t necessarily have to be working within the NHS; these awards are for anyone working for or with the NHS towards the shared goal of delivering high-quality care.

“Nor do nominees have to be in frontline or clinical roles, but perhaps from the vital but often-unseen roles, ensuring that the NHS is equipped to meet the needs of patients. Equally, people support patients in other ways, such as via their local Healthwatch, social enterprises or charities.

“I want to hear about - and celebrate - the range of ways our health and care sector are delivering the best quality service for their patients.”

For further information about the categories and entry criteria, visit www.nhsparliamentaryawards.co.uk. To discuss making a nomination, contact Trudy on 01229 718333 or Trudy.harrison.mp@parliament.uk before the deadline of Friday, March 25.
