Trudy Harrison welcomed residents to the latest Saturday Chataway surgery in Keswick.
Councillors and locally elected members joined Trudy Harrison MP at Crosthwaite Parish Rooms in Keswick on Saturday to speak with constituents, listen to their concerns and suggestions and assist with their issues.
Councillor’s in attendance included Keswick Town Mayor, Susan Leighton, Allan Daniels, Duncan Miller, Chris Whiteside and Rick Petecki.
Mrs Harrison, said: “These meetings are becoming increasingly valued in the local community, reinforced by the presence of councillors and elected members of all parties, and none. I would like to particularly thank the volunteers from Crosthwaite Parish Rooms, the Keswick and District First Responders who provided the most delicious baking and all those who joined me for yet another successful morning.”
A range of issues and suggestions were raised surrounding planning, dilapidated properties, litter, the importance of public toilets, Brexit and town centre bank closures.
The next Saturday Chataway will be held in Parton Village Hall between 10am and 12pm.
Mrs Harrison added: “Councillors, myself and my team are now working on all the cases brought to us and I’ll be updating on progress this week. Being able to deal with issues collaboratively is incredibly helpful, and in everyone’s best interest. I look forward to meeting with Parton residents next month.”
Each month, the coffee morning style surgeries raise money for a much valued local organisation or charity.
Proceeds from this month’s Saturday Chataway which raised £116 will support the outstanding work of the Keswick and District First Responders.
Mayor of Keswick, Cllr Susan Leighton, said: “The visit by Trudy was much appreciated, and the number of people wanting to speak with her was encouraging."
