Trudy Harrison has got the vote of a well-known local businessman praising her passion as a community campaigner, who shares the same values for Copeland as he does.
Gerard Richardson, who runs Richardson’s of Whitehaven, has backed the Conservative candidate in the up-coming by-election.
The businessman, who has run the family-firm on Lowther Street for the past 23 years, said:
“Trudy has worked tirelessly for her local community and is committed to all the things I care about, including fighting for West Cumberland Hospital and creating local jobs and opportunities for all.
“I co-founded Save Our Services and had to do that when Labour were in power, so how can they say it’s safe with them? Trudy and I share the same values and passion for this area, so she gets my full support.”
Mr Richardson, who for many years ran the hugely successful Whitehaven Festival and co-founded the Save Our Services campaign, pledged to back Trudy on Thursday in Whitehaven
Margot James, Minister for Small Business, who was with Trudy in the town, said: “I have visited a number of fantastic small businesses such as Gerard’s here in Whitehaven while I have been here campaigning in Copeland for Trudy.
“She would make a fantastic MP for Copeland, someone who would be able to bring in the investment and opportunity that the region needs.
“With her background supporting community schemes, Trudy is the woman to pull all this together and I hope people support her in the up-coming by-election.”
