Trudy Harrison MP has welcomed along residents to help with their issues and concerns at this month’s Saturday Chataway surgery.
Mrs Harrison was joined by elected members and local councillors for the surgery and charity coffee morning, which was held at Adams Memorial Hall in Arlecdon.
Copeland councillors in attendance included Chris Whiteside, Arthur Lamb, Andrew Wonnacott, Martin Barbour, Gwyneth Everett, Graham Sunderland, and Jean Lewthwaite.
Mrs Harrison, said: “It’s working really well having elected members from all parties and none, coming together once a month for their local community. We alternate between towns and villages, covering the large parliamentary boundary and we’re hearing a vast range of issues, concerns and suggestions. I had 14 appointments this last Saturday.”
The next Saturday Chataway will be held in Crosthwaite Parish Rooms in Keswick with funds being raised for the Keswick and District First Responders.
Each month, the coffee morning style surgeries raise money for local organisations and charities.
Proceeds from this month’s Saturday Chataway are being donated to Arlecdon Junior Rugby Club.
Mrs Harrison, continued: “Being able to raise funds for our fabulous voluntary organisations and hiring local venues, all adds to the success I think.
“Next time, Saturday Chataway will be in Keswick at the usual time of 10am until 12 midday at Crosthwaite Parish Rooms. Future improvements will include more information about local projects and representation from other community leaders and organisations.”
Mrs Harrison, added: “Thank you to all the councillors who supported and my constituents who came along, and of course to Graeme and Matthew, who have the most beautifully furnished and decorated Rugby Clubhouse I’ve been to.”
