Trudy Harrison has joined Whitehaven Sea Cadets for their annual awards giving ceremony.
Trudy joined cadets, parents and staff from Whitehaven Sea Cadets at their annual Presentations of Awards on Friday evening (26th January) in Whitehaven.
Presentations were made to the cadets for a wide range of achievements, from sports to ‘community spirit’ and good conduct.
Trudy presented several awards including Sporting Cadet of the Year, Community Spirit, and Runner-up Cadet of the Year.
She said: “I was honoured to accept the invitation to attend and present some of the awards, and to learn more about the Whitehaven Sea Cadets as well as the wide range of opportunities and experiences they offer young people. They are a real and very valuable asset to the local community and I wish them continued success.”
The cadet unit’s Chairman, David Abbott, said: “We do try to reward cadets for specific achievements as they happen through the year. But tonight, is very special as it recognises and celebrates the sustained efforts of our cadets during the past 12 months.”
Whitehaven Sea Cadets’ Commanding Officer, Lt (SCC) Peter Lucas RNR also commented on the difficulties of deciding who received which trophy.
He said: “We try not to split awards but it can be very difficult and sometimes there really is no way of settling on a single winner. That is a measure of the consistently high standards our cadets achieve.”
