Copeland’s Conservative by-election candidate has launched her six-point plan to support our local nuclear industry, and make the case for funding to maintain local services.
At the heart of her plan for the constituency, Trudy Harrison has pledged to protect local jobs and industry as part of her community driven-campaign to support the local nuclear industry and deliver the funding needed to maintain services.
The 40-year-old mum of four said: “We’ve been let down by Labour for years. They’ve failed to deliver the infrastructure and services we need. A vote for Labour means we’ll just be ignored and forgotten again.”
“Under Jeremy Corbyn, Labour is refusing to back our local nuclear industry that so many jobs rely on. So this time a vote for Labour is a threat to our local economy and jobs too.”
With her husband Keith and other family members working in the nuclear industry, Trudy knows just how vital it is to our area.
She said: “I know first-hand how important the nuclear industry is to communities across west Cumbria. I’ll make the case for the Moorside development to bring funding to maintain local services, which are vital to everyone employed in the sector.”
Also included in her plan, Trudy will fight to improve local roads and infrastructure, invest in training and apprenticeships, improve rural broadband and is the only candidate who will work with the Prime Minister to help make a success of Brexit in Copeland and rural Cumbria.
She said: “This crucial by-election is Copeland’s chance to send a message that the EU referendum result must be respected and to back the Prime Minister’s plan to make a success of Brexit.”
