Copeland residents have met with Trudy Harrison at the latest Saturday Chataway surgery in Parton.
On Saturday Trudy welcomed residents to Parton Village Hall to listen to their concerns and suggestions and assist with their issues at the monthly session.
Mrs Harrison was joined by councillors and locally elected members. Country councillors Martin Barbour, Chris Whiteside, Copeland councillors Gillian Troughton and Gwynneth Everett and Parton Parish councillors, Kevin Young and clerk Chris Shaw.
A range of issues and suggestions were raised surrounding traffic calming, A595 improvements, and pensions.
Mrs Harrison, said: “I was really pleased to welcome councillors from all parties and none; county, borough and parish councillors working together to focus on the community’s concerns and suggestions. Collaborating is my way of working and Saturday Chataways are increasingly providing that opportunity.
“One of the issues raised was the Parton memorial garden, which was created by local bereaved residents to have somewhere to go, to reflect and remember their loved ones. Sadly the memorial garden is being used as a dog toilet, which is obviously upsetting to everyone who has invested their time and money to create such a special, tranquil and beautiful area.”
Each month, the coffee morning style surgeries raise money for much-valued local organisations and charities.
Proceeds from this month’s Saturday Chataway, which raised £50, will support the Parton Friendship Group.
Next month’s Saturday Chataway will take place on Saturday 19th May, at the Pensioners Hall in Millom with all proceeds raised donated to Millom Pensioners Association.
Mrs Harrison, added: “I’d also like to thank the wonderful ladies who ensured we were supplied with tea, coffee and biscuits - though we still called in at the delicious Parton Pantry for lunch.”
